I found myself liking this film. The script seemed a little unfocused at times, although most of the humor landed well, the action sequences were really fun to watch, and I believe reverting Superman to a more traditional comic book style, rather than the darker tone we saw from Snyder, was a positive adjustment. The performances across the board are strong. Lois and Jimmy particularly impressed me. Nicholas Hoult didn't quite work as Luthor, with his overly frantic portrayal; I would have preferred someone like Hackman or Cryer in that role, bringing a more calculating and subtle presence. And yes, Krypto is included—we finally get a dog! To put it briefly: it’s good but not exceptional. Nevertheless, I believe you'll likely enjoy watching it. Also, absolutely see it in 3D. [SPOILERS BELOW] I do have a couple of issues with it. They present us with two of Superman’s most iconic adversaries—Lex Luthor and Bizarro—but they both feel underwhelming. I was hoping for something along the lines of Iron Man facing off against Iron Monger back in 2008, but Lex never gets to wear his suit. I assumed the masked figure was Bizarro, and that's who he turned out to be, but a more thoughtfully developed version would have been much better.
