The film-within-a-film storyline of _Super 8_ really resonated with me more than the main story involving the creature, the train crash, and the shadowy government agents—you know, all that stuff. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it does show that there was something to enjoy about it. The final rating is ★★½ - There were many elements that I found appealing, but ultimately it didn’t fully succeed as a complete package.
