The film initially presented itself as a promising science fiction story, opening with a spacecraft maneuvering a massive nuclear device—comparable in size to Manhattan—toward the Sun. The mission of this vessel and its team is centered on reviving a failing star. The visual atmosphere and overall design during the first portion were quite impressive. A particularly memorable scene unfolds early when the crew observes Mercury appearing between their ship and the Sun. The film’s scientific elements, reminiscent of 2001, along with the spacecraft's maintenance and the distinctive gold spacesuits, are all exceptionally well-done. However, in its final thirty minutes, **Sunshine** takes a turn, shifting into something resembling _Event Horizon_ and introducing considerable confusion. The narrative becomes unclear as Capa (played by Cillian Murphy) seems to be either struggling or experiencing hallucinations while trying to fulfill his duty; it’s hard to say definitively which is happening. Despite the film's impressive science fiction aspects, its latter half represents a significant decline in quality.
