It’s remarkable that Danny Boyle managed to get such a strong group of performers for this unusual narrative. The team aboard the "Icarus II" has the task of moving a large nuclear weapon toward the sun in an attempt to revitalize it; apparently, it's failing. As you might expect, their voyage is full of risks, which intensify when they come across the remains of another vessel that undertook a comparable mission years before. Upon entering this derelict ship, things aren’t straightforward and there’s peril everywhere! Alex Garland has a knack for crafting engaging plots, and Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, and Chris Evans have good chemistry as this science fiction adventure unfolds. The script isn't particularly strong, and the musical score can be overpowering at times, but Boyle still succeeds in generating a fair amount of suspense by combining impressive visual effects, some acts of betrayal, romantic undertones, and a traditional villain.
