I really loved this movie; it brought Hamaguchi to mind because of its focus on female characters and their connections. However, the similarities stop at that basic point. It’s a sprawling film examining how friendships endure and what they signify, incorporating elements like humor, sadness, dramatic tension, and even some fantastical or dreamlike qualities. If any of those aspects appeal to you, I strongly suggest giving this film a look.
