Though lacking substantial plot development, Summer Holiday possesses a certain warmth that makes it enjoyable for those seeking lighthearted musical entertainment, despite its dated and somewhat corny feel. There are some energetic moments scattered throughout, but ultimately the film is best remembered for its catchy songs. Particularly noteworthy are the title track, "Bachelor Boy," and “The Next Time,” with The Shadows’ involvement adding to the appeal. It may not win over those new to it, especially if they didn't experience it as children, however, nostalgia proves more than enough to overlook its predictable nature. And naturally, for anyone who appreciates Cliff Richard’s consistently good-natured persona, this film is a must-see. 6.5/10
