I was aware of the film’s low rating beforehand, but I hoped perhaps it was simply due to a bias against Uwe Boll and a lack of objective consideration. It isn't that I haven't seen his earlier films—‘House Of The Dead,’ ‘Alone In The Dark,’ and later ‘In The Name Of The King’ were all really bad, so he does have earned some criticism. However, I’ve also come to believe that Boll is capable of making decent movies; ‘Rampage’, ‘Rampage: Capital Punishment’, ‘Assault On Wall Street’ and ‘Heart of America’ are films I consider good. I feel those projects mean something to him, which seems to be why they turn out better because he puts more into them. This one, though, feels like very little effort went in. The writing is bad, the performances aren't great either, and even the visuals and rhythm are lacking—there’s not much good I can point to. If pressed, I guess I could say that at least it isn’t his absolute worst film.
