It was an agreeable film, something I might revisit, though I don’t feel compelled to suggest it to others. I tuned in hoping to see Kat Dennings, but she felt overshadowed by Matthew Gray Gubler, who essentially held the whole thing together. He appears to be a capable performer and brought a certain quality to his role that left me unsure whether it was simply him being talented, an inherent part of the character, or if he added something unique. Because of this, I’ll definitely want to keep an eye on his future projects. The plot itself felt pretty weak. There are several actors I recognize in smaller roles, and the immediate moments were generally enjoyable, but the oddity of discovering a concealed child-sized coffin and attempting to put a spirit to rest loses its impact when that scenario is drawn out over an extended time without building any real tension. I appreciate originality, and I wouldn't go so far as to label this film as poor, but there are just too many other worthwhile options available.
