The performances from Vikander and McAvoy are certainly impressive, and they work very well as a pair. While the story itself might have benefited from tighter organization, I did enjoy the film. Sometimes talented actors can pull a movie through, and that seems to be what happened here. The possibility of an immediate connection blossoming into a lifelong love is explored, with the potential for profound changes in individual aspirations. The film also touches on the idea that differing viewpoints can carry equal weight depending on personal values—whether one prioritizes saving the world or safeguarding oneself.
