The film *’Strange Darling'* is pleasing to look at. It has a very distinct visual style, and the movie includes some truly impressive camera work alongside a memorable soundtrack. I'm not entirely convinced by the underlying narrative; it seems that if you removed all the other aspects, what would be left is rather ordinary. However, ultimately, I feel like I was entertained enough by it. I’m unsure whether telling the story in a non-chronological way was necessary. A more straightforward presentation of events probably wouldn't have altered the experience significantly. That being said, the jumps in time are easy to follow and don’t negatively impact the film at all. So, if it functions well, why not? Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner both deliver strong performances; they seem perfectly suited for their characters and contribute to keeping the movie moving forward smoothly. The rest of the cast deserves recognition as well, with a welcome appearance from Ed Begley Jr. and Steven Michael Quezada – something of a *'Better Call Saul'* get-together. Quentin Tarantino would likely appreciate this film, though perhaps primarily for the excessive amount of smoking rather than anything else.
