It’s a really good film. I was completely absorbed by 'Straight Outta Compton'; it held my attention from beginning to end. That’s saying something, considering I didn’t know much about N.W.A beforehand—I recognized the names Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, but that’s about it regarding their story. I wouldn’t be able to say how accurate it is historically, but as a movie, it's excellent. The performances are strong from O'Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, and Paul Giamatti. Mitchell stood out for me as Eazy-E, while casting Jackson—his father, naturally—as Ice Cube was a brilliant decision. Honestly, everyone in the cast does a great job. I appreciate how raw the film feels; it’s believable, at least to the extent that a movie can be. The cinematography is quite good, and the music fits in well with everything else. The rhythm of the story is almost flawless, except for a couple of spots in the middle. I also liked the way things conclude, both regarding the narrative itself and the end credits. There's genuine feeling present throughout.
