The concept behind Stowaway was promising, although the final product didn't entirely live up to what it could have been. The narrative is straightforward, yet its presentation felt lacking. While suspense exists and the consequences are significant, many instances feel contrived instead of organic. There are also some problems with the rhythm, which causes the film to drag in places. The central ethical question is intriguing, but the story's impact doesn’t resonate as powerfully as it ought to. The direction is adequate, unremarkable really, but the cinematography and special effects are where the movie falters. Given that the entire film occurs on a spacecraft, the visuals should have been captivating, but they aren't. The ship itself lacks believability, which detracts from some scenes and prevents them from feeling fully authentic. On the positive side, the acting is commendable; the performers delivered solid portrayals and infused the story with emotion. However, even with good performances, the writing felt somewhat flawed. Certain lines of dialogue and situations seemed unnatural, as if they were engineered to manufacture drama.
