Several personal stories unfold within the narrative, all occurring among the inmates; keeping everyone isolated inside this setting is a plus. The building suspense can be overwhelming at times, largely due to Bryan Brown’s portrayal of a hardened and tightly wound character. Stir hasn't received enough attention, but it’s as uncompromising as steel-toed boots and should definitely be considered a must-see for fans of prison films. 8/10
