I've consistently enjoyed Matt Damon’s performances, and one reason I chose to watch this was Camille Cottin; she really stood out in the French series Call My Agent! The central figures are well-developed characters, with Damon portraying a man from Oklahoma who embodies rural traits, alongside his daughter Allison, brought to life by Abigail Breslin. Everyone involved delivers solid performances, and there's a talented supporting cast as well. They managed to blend the subtitled French conversations effectively with those of the English speakers. The storyline does ultimately depend on what feels like a significant stroke of luck, but the writing and dialogue are sharp, which helps it all come together. This isn’t one of those movies where you'll find a predictably sentimental conclusion; life doesn't always resolve neatly, and that's reflected here—some things go well, while others don’t.
