Being a stick seems like a perilous existence, particularly when winter arrives. Imagine being out in the woods, simply going about your business, only to run into creatures and individuals who might have all sorts of purposes for you. You could end up coated in dog slobber or tossed into the water as part of a game created by that yellow bear with a fondness for honey. There's also the possibility of being burned, woven into a bird’s nest, or even carried out to sea. It seems likely that Mrs. Stick and her three children would never see their father again if not for an extraordinary bit of fortune. I found this vibrant animated film quite enjoyable as it chronicles the adventures of a dad who embodies everything that makes me question someone's decision to become a runner! The abundance of wildlife and situations provides opportunities for the animators to blend plants and animals in a colorful way, keeping the story moving along entertainingly, with just a touch of (Christmas) suspense. We spend a pleasant half-hour accompanied by upbeat music and plenty of snow. It was genuinely fun.
