I decided to purchase this film because I already owned the others in the series and my children and I enjoy Starship Troopers. I didn’t realize it was a CGI animated movie until after I made the purchase. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the film turned out to be. The plot is straightforward, designed for those who appreciate Starship Troopers and action/Sci-Fi movies in general, but it still managed to impress me favorably. My anticipation wasn’t particularly high, especially considering some of the disappointing sequels that have come after the original Starship Troopers. The computer animation is quite well done, there's a lot of action, and while the story feels like something out of a comic book, it manages to stay on track. There are a few instances of typical plot points that don’t make much sense and feel awkward, but nothing truly terrible. If I had to find fault with something, it would be the audio quality; at least on my Blu-ray disc, it seemed rather weak. Even though it's 5.1 DTS Master Audio, it lacked richness, and the low-frequency effects were almost completely absent. It’s a shame, particularly for a Sci-Fi film with lots of weaponry and spaceships.
