"Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" proves to be an enjoyable movie, leaning more heavily into comedic moments than what audiences have come to expect from later installments. This humor generally succeeds, and William Shatner appears very enthusiastic as director, striving to pack in as much visually striking action as possible – he certainly manages that – and successfully captures the essence of the original television program. Still, a considerable problem arises when the story noticeably slows down after it becomes apparent there isn’t much left to explore once they reach the planet located at the galaxy's center.
