The movie initially seemed encouraging, but it rapidly spirals into an improbable narrative when the Enterprise encounters Spock’s half brother. From there, the plot involves a quest for "God," which unfortunately introduces religious themes that undermine the enjoyable nature of pure fantasy and forces viewers to endure what feels like a clumsy effort at persuasion. While the story does open up possibilities for considering morality and humanity's role in existence, those kinds of conversations simply don’t belong within “Star Trek” films—and I regret to say that the storyline just plods along, much like a rhino struggling through thick syrup. The special effects are impressive, and the familiar team prevents it from being an utter failure, but ultimately, it's not a worthwhile film.
