Okay, look, I get it—please don’t be angry with me. It was released in 1989, my parents had other things going on, they left Heath and me at the movie theater without them, which was a pretty regular occurrence during my childhood, but this marked the very first time I experienced a Star Trek film on my own. Because of that, it kind of evolved into *my* Star Trek movie, separate from the ones I watched with my dad—it became uniquely mine. Now, when I rewatch it, I acknowledge its flaws, but there’s still this sense that it holds significance as the Star Trek film I discovered independently... so I can't bring myself to give it a truly negative assessment. Still… yeah, I know it isn’t good.
