I'm really not that into ‘Star Wars’, so naturally, I didn’t care for this one either. I’ve watched a lot of movies about space adventures, but I never found this series particularly captivating. Some of the 'Star Trek' films I did enjoy, though. I understand that people say this sequel isn’t as good as the earlier ones, but to me, it seemed alright compared to those. It was pretty straightforward, especially in terms of the plot; most of what followed was action and adventure sequences. Honestly, this series feels like a collection of leftovers from other movie franchises. Look at who they cast—a lot of comedians, some second-tier actors, and then others I’m not even sure how to categorize, but they're passable performers. Still, these films have done surprisingly well in theaters. It didn’t make the same kind of splash as recent ‘Star Wars’ or Marvel movies, but it still earned a respectable amount considering everything I mentioned. Directed by the Taiwanese filmmaker who directed four 'Fast and Furious' installments, he did a decent job with this one. The movie centers on Captain James Kirk, leading his ship and crew on a rescue mission to a distant planet where an alien race is stranded. But when they arrive, they’re ambushed by an unknown space force, which also ends up taking refuge on the same planet. From that point onward, how they figure out their escape and discover who those attackers were makes up the rest of the story. It's packed with action and adventure. The plot is simple, but the new characters are reasonably well-developed, along with some impressive stunt work. As expected, there’s nothing to complain about regarding the visuals. It's fine for casual viewing; however, if you really start looking for flaws, you might find a few. I recommend watching it purely for entertainment purposes, though it probably won’t satisfy serious ‘Star Trek’ fans. Overall, I don’t think it’s a terrible film, and the two-hour runtime wasn't an issue because of the good pacing. _7/10_
