Stand by Me certainly carries the hallmarks of an 80s film—and it’s enjoyable too. While the young performers aren't particularly remarkable individually, they possess a charm and portray a believable friendship that makes them worth following on their journey. I recognized Corey Feldman as one of the few actors I was familiar with, but now I notice Jerry O'Connell is in it too – he’s completely unrecognizable! Kiefer Sutherland and John Cusack are present as well, though they stand out less than the group dynamic. As mentioned earlier, the cast functions best together overall. Throughout the film, I kept anticipating whether they would incorporate Ben E. King’s excellent song, so hearing those initial notes at the end was a pleasant surprise. It felt like an appropriate conclusion to a movie that my uncle has been suggesting for some time—apparently it's a beloved classic across generations. I understand why now.
