I wasn’t really into Laurel and Hardy's style of comedy when I was younger, so I didn’t know much about them. This look back at their careers turned out to be pretty good, following them through their later working lives as they struggled while performing for a not-entirely-honest Bernard Delfont—who would eventually become Lord Delfont—in smaller venues across Britain. John C. Reilly does a really nice job of showing Oliver Hardy’s vulnerabilities. Steve Coogan didn't quite sell it for me; his performance felt more like an impression than anything else. Still, it's generally a sweet and understated narrative with some genuinely funny parts and a few moments that got to me emotionally.
