It's hard to fathom why someone would ring a bell just to get noticed, really! Here, it’s the lazy "Squidward" who's growing frustrated as “Bob” starts using one with considerable gusto in their diner’s kitchen each time he prepares an order. To give our flat, cartoonish character his due, he appears to be quite a well-liked cook, and as more orders come in, so do his chances of giving his increasingly annoyed coworker a ringing ear. The short is just a couple of minutes long, but the visuals are bright and lively, and the lesson learned from this playful “Bob” suggests that bells should only be used on Sundays, once a month, and preferably on the moon!
