It seems like a significant turning point for Shyamalan, as he hasn't received this level of praise in quite some time. The premise appeared basic—a narrative centered on split personality and disaster—but the cinematic execution was remarkably effective. James McAvoy’s acting really made the film work; I’ve watched many of his movies, but if I were to pick just one standout performance, it would undoubtedly be this one. The story is easy to follow, without unnecessary complexity or explanations. Then, unexpectedly, the final act shifted gears completely, culminating in a twist that brought everything to a close. Initially, three young girls are taken captive. Afterward, the victims remain unaware of their circumstances and make several questionable decisions—with one exception. As the story unfolds, numerous secrets are gradually revealed, especially concerning the kidnapper. Everything builds toward an event beyond comprehension. The details of how this occurs and what consequences it brings are shown later on. The film avoids taking a particular viewpoint; instead, it presents the audience with choices. Most viewers will likely find themselves supporting the unusual girl. Anya is establishing herself well early in her career, and she has the potential to become exceptional if she maintains this level of commitment across all her roles. The musical score was also outstanding, contributing significantly to the atmosphere alongside the visuals. It couldn't have been better. This is easily the best thriller of the year; it would be a mistake to skip it if you enjoy movies. _8/10_
