Despite some unevenness in its tone and a blend of genres that doesn't always quite mesh—it’s an apocalyptic-future science fiction horror film with elements of buddy cop comedy—I still found this to be surprisingly enjoyable, largely because of Rutger Hauer’s appealingly rough portrayal.
