The movie *Spiderhead* has a really interesting starting point, a unique science fiction idea, but ultimately doesn’t quite live up to what it could have been, even with its impressive cast. Chris Hemsworth continues to show why he deserves more recognition as an actor, and Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett have a strong connection together on screen. The filmmaking itself is well done; director Joseph Kosinski and his crew manage to create a tense feeling within one setting, while also including some striking visuals. However, the plot’s momentum fades and it becomes unfocused in the middle section. There were many interesting possibilities that could have been explored or developed further, but the movie seems to opt for a predictable route instead. The surprises and reveals aren't always smooth, though they do make an impression. I would still suggest watching it; I’m eager to see how regular viewers respond. Rating: B-
