I was immediately struck by the animation style; it really does resemble a comic book come to life. I think choosing this approach was brilliant because we’re so used to standard animation, but nothing quite like this. The action sequences are also fantastic and work well with the visuals—the directors made them look like panels from a comic. Even if you aren't familiar with Miles Morales, you will be wanting to know more about him after seeing how relatable they made him. Unlike other Spider-Man iterations, he feels like an ordinary teenager struggling to understand his abilities. And it’s not just Miles who is relatable; the filmmakers did a wonderful job making each character someone at least one person in the audience can connect with. The voice actors all performed admirably, although I would have liked to hear a familiar voice—even for just a short time. The humor in this film is also spot-on; it doesn't overwhelm the story and there’s just the right amount of funny moments that will appeal to everyone. They playfully point out things that wouldn’t make sense in a typical movie or other Spider-Man films. I didn’t notice any scenes feeling rushed or drawn out—the pacing was perfect for this kind of film. The cinematography is also spectacular, likely because the comic book aesthetic requires specific lighting and visual techniques. Comic fans will appreciate all the easter eggs hidden throughout the film; some are exclusive to those who read the comics, while others most viewers will understand. The soundtrack is fantastic too—the music choices fit Miles’s age perfectly, and the instrumental pieces really enhance the emotional impact of certain scenes. Plus, there are two end credit scenes that are definitely worth sticking around for. Overall, this film has something for everyone. I'm giving Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse a 10/10.
