Presley is at his most visually appealing, displaying his characteristic charm; you wouldn't guess that he was taking diet pills to control his weight or wrestling with a desire to make more substantial movies. I wasn’t particularly impressed by her looks, but I did appreciate her hairstyle, found her pleasant enough, and enjoyed her singing. Elvis and Bixby have good rapport during their playful moments together. It's an enjoyable and adequate Presley film, notable for the lively 1960s feel and the main character’s trusting nature, though “Speedway” isn’t particularly memorable within Elvis’ body of work.
