It seems Keanu Reeves likely had other commitments rather than appearing in this unbelievable follow-up. Sandra Bullock returns as "Annie," now involved with handsome police officer "Alex" (Jason Patric). She’s not happy to learn his job is almost as perilous as her former partner's (Reeves), prompting him to try and appease her with a high-end cruise. Unluckily, this is the very same voyage that the aggressive “Geiger” (Willem Dafoe) has chosen to disrupt due to a significant grievance against the shipping line. He easily seizes control of the ship and sets it on track to collide with an oil tanker full of cargo. Will "Alex" and "Annie" be able to stop this wicked scheme? The plot is simply absurd, and Jason Patric’s acting abilities would barely fill a crowded ashtray. Willem Dafoe delivers a decent level of craziness in his portrayal, but Sandra Bullock—with the exception of a genuinely amusing driving test sequence—is largely sidelined throughout most of this rather imaginative story. The conclusion does offer some brief moments of excitement, though it resolves itself in a way that seemed to generate satisfaction from an outcome I struggled to feel good about. It’s entirely unremarkable from beginning to end, unfortunately.
