This film shares some similarities with "Quatermass Xperiment" (1955), particularly as the story unfolds around astronaut “Patrick” (Justin Lazard) – who also happens to be the offspring of a stern US senator, portrayed by James Cromwell – returning from space. Differing from the initial installments in this series of less-than-stellar science fiction movies, here it’s the male character compelled to procreate, and he certainly makes an effort. No female is beyond his reach, except for "Eve" (Natasha Henstridge). She represents his ideal partner but remains protected within a facility overseen by “Laura” (Marg Helgenberger). As expected, this location proves far from invulnerable, and it falls to “Lennox” (Michael Madsen) to intervene before their mating rituals escalate into something universal. The entire production is simply subpar. Both the script and performances are devoid of any fresh ideas or energy, and the visual effects feel like they were lifted directly from a contemporary episode of "Stargate-SG1." The conclusion manages to be amusingly blatant in its attempt to set up a third film – I’m genuinely curious to see if it could possibly be even worse!
