It's something you could watch once, having already seen the initial Danish telling of the tale, which I had done previously out of curiosity. I think this adaptation actually surpasses the original in some ways. However, the narrative itself is disappointing and riddled with problems. The portrayal of the young girl and her ineffective dad became quite irritating. Still, if you're unfamiliar with what happens, it’s acceptable for a single viewing—a decent film to enjoy with popcorn.
