It’s hard to say that this is among Ishiro Honda's finest works, yet it manages to be entertaining in its own way. Extraterrestrial beings sneak onto a probe heading toward Earth, which makes landfall on a Pacific island. Their plan involves generating enormous creatures designed to wipe out humankind so they can conquer the planet. This isn’t groundbreaking territory, and neither is the story of local islanders and hotel staff attempting to repel this invasion. The special effects are passable; the monsters, explosions, and performances all feel inexpensive, but collectively they propel the enjoyable narrative forward at a decent pace. The voice actors' delivery is excessively theatrical, and the musical score can be irritating, though it remains reasonably worthwhile to view—perhaps because Japanese films of this type aren’t usually as poor as those made elsewhere.
