The narrative unfolds within a grim depiction of 2022, yet possesses an aesthetic reminiscent of 1973. While there are flashes of ingenuity, the creators overlooked opportunities to fully realize a dystopian setting, particularly concerning issues like race, gender roles, and technological advancements. It’s intended that dystopias should be unsettling, but this one simply resembles 1973 rather than a deteriorated version of 2022. The plot itself is enjoyable, though much of the surrounding presentation feels outmoded. Consequently, a reimagining might improve it; however, I suspect it hasn't been remade because its core ideas have already been revisited and incorporated into other movies, given that the storyline isn’t overly complex.
