I scored it an 8 out of 10, and I really do find it captivating and engaging. It’s easily among the strongest independent films released this year. However, it is genuinely difficult to sit through. The way the teenage character is treated by his father creates a palpable feeling of unease for anyone watching, and it's reasonable to describe much of what unfolds as abusive, even while the teenager secretly tries to free himself from his father’s control and lead a more typical young life. It's not something you’d want to view on a pleasant day because it could easily spoil your mood, but I believe it is worth experiencing.
