Soulcatcher’s biggest problem seems to be attempting too much and failing at several points; it would have benefited from focusing on fewer elements and executing them effectively. The initial setup is fairly captivating, suggesting a zombie-themed military action film with science fiction components. Rather than expanding on this premise, the movie shifts into a storyline involving a fictional weapon of mass destruction—one that transforms people into violent, zombie-like individuals—and incorporates underdeveloped political machinations. While action remains central to the narrative, it struggles across a disjointed and uneven plot filled with inconsistencies.
