This Disney Pixar film is my top pick, even more so than Monster’s Inc.! From beginning to end, I found myself completely engaged; there's a really strong message here that children likely won’t fully grasp, and it seems to address issues relevant to teenagers and adults more directly than it does for kids—at least, more so than most animated films do. The film appears to be about anxiety, sadness, and the worry surrounding life choices. It even suggests that what people consider your purpose might not actually be accurate or genuine. Coming from the team behind Inside Out, which delivered important lessons about emotions in a way geared toward children, Soul’s focus on teens and adults was unexpected. I'm not suggesting it isn't suitable for kids, but I would encourage anyone who isn’t a child to check it out. The film’s ability to convey its messages through music is probably part of what makes it so effective—I love music myself, across all sorts of genres (if you could see my YouTube listening history, you'd think I was somewhere between a five-year-old girl and a centenarian Beatles fan). I definitely suggest watching this movie.
