German settlers living in Chile hire a young girl named "Rosa" (Valentina Véliz Caileo) to look after their house while they are away. They return one day to find all their sheep dead, each with a rope around its neck. “Stefan” (Sebastian Hülk) immediately blames the local indigenous people and begins to lash out at Rosa. He attacks her father, who is then set upon by Stefan’s dogs. Now an orphan, she goes in search of justice from the mayor (Daniel Muñoz), but he offers no help. The priest suggests she seek shelter with "Mateo" (Daniel Antivilo). Mateo turns out to be a kind man who makes a living through fishing and is knowledgeable about traditional spiritual practices. “Rosa” wants retribution for her father’s death, and as she becomes increasingly involved in what's described as "Brujería," strange occurrences begin to trouble her former employers when their two sons disappear – coinciding with the appearance of two young wild animals! What follows shows the Christian community reacting with a mix of dread and aggression, but it remains to be seen if that will be enough to counter the power of the spiritual forces at work, which seem determined to restore balance between humanity, nature, and the prejudiced people. The film unfolds deliberately, and its setting in what feels like an extremely damp location effectively conveys a sense of timelessness, reflecting a way of life that existed long before European settlers arrived. The interconnectedness of humans and the natural world, along with matters of faith, is portrayed powerfully but subtly, thanks to some appealing performances and a production design that feels authentic and grounded. It’s not a horror film in the conventional sense; it doesn't really belong to that category at all, yet it creates an unsettling atmosphere through its exploration of what happens when nature's power is disturbed and the consequences of treating others poorly.
