I recently came across a film from 1994 that I really liked; you can see the copyright year in the credits. It features Linda Blair, known for horror films, along with a strong supporting cast who all deliver solid performances. The movie combines elements of horror, thriller, and erotica—there are some nude scenes—and the plot is effective. Having worked in the industry myself for nearly 50 years—I began my career as a child actor—I was particularly impressed by the film’s technical aspects. Around 50 minutes in, there's a gorgeous shot of Rochelle Swanson standing in a doorway filled with blue light; the room has an incredibly simple set design: a four-poster bed draped in black sheets, sheer curtains hanging from each post that sway gently in the breeze, a few candles strategically placed, and two well-positioned lights. I absolutely loved the set decoration. The performances of the three actresses should appeal to many viewers, and yes, I enjoyed it too. But honestly, the film is skillfully made and has a lovely musical score as well. I bought the soundtrack CD right after watching it—I found a brand new copy for sale on eBay—and it’s got the same cover art and photos, plus lots of information about the film inside the fold-out album. I'm passionate about horror, and this one has quickly become a favorite because it blends so many different elements: soft erotica, witchcraft themes, some good bloody makeup effects, and beautiful visuals with a pleasing score (if you like Debussy and melodic music). For me, it’s one of those films that isn’t great in an obvious way, but possesses something special that makes you love it, even if you can't quite put your finger on why. If you appreciate horror themes, some blood, nude scenes, or film set decoration, lighting and camera work—as I do—then I suggest giving it a try; you might find yourself captivated by it too. My personal rating is an 8 out of 10, (5 out of 5 Stars) on this site, because the cast, story, and overall presentation are all very well done.
