It’s hard to say what kind of drink would best accompany this – perhaps something strong like whisky or gin? It's certainly not a thrilling experience, watching these five women who have traveled to the Caribbean for "Lizzie's" (Lauren Lyle) wedding. Each of her friends has brought their own issues along with them, and on the day before the ceremony, they head out for what’s supposed to be a relaxed beach excursion quite some distance away. From the beginning, it's clear that two of the women were previously involved in a relationship, but an awful incident seems to have ended that. The rather unpleasant and verbally aggressive "Cam" (Nicole Rieko Smith), "Lizzie," and their friend "Ruth" (Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart) decide to leave "Meg" (Hiftu Quasem) and "Kayla" (Natalie Mitson) alone on the beach so they can “discuss things,” and at that point I was completely ready for whatever was in the water – as long as it was something dangerous. That’s really the central issue with this film: there's almost no actual action; nothing to even slightly frighten or disturb you, just five people who I honestly couldn't have felt less invested in. The pacing is painfully slow, filled with numerous shots of individuals floating on the water, waiting for a rescue that will only arrive when it’s time for them... It's surprising, really, considering the human body holds only about 5 liters of blood, a detail that seems to be completely ignored by Hayley Easton Street or writer Cat Clarke. The editing attempts to create a subtle feeling of threat, but the acting and shockingly dull conversations make this film feel limp and uninspired. This is absolutely in contention for the worst movie released all year.
