The current practice of featuring major stars in lower-budget films seems to be the latest thing. There were excellent performances from talented actors, though the plot itself was just passable, and while it proved to be a reasonably pleasant film, it fell short. 'Two Rabbits' was an impressive Brazilian thriller; this is the director’s first Hollywood project, and it wasn't particularly captivating. I had high hopes given his previous work, and it didn’t prove bad, but it felt underwhelming when measured against Hollywood norms. Had it been a Portuguese production, people likely wouldn’t have objected as much. The intention was to create a follow-up to David Fincher's 'Seven', but the attempt to combine those narratives ultimately failed, so it ended up being its own separate story. The title should have been 'Premonition,' but another film already uses that name. As I mentioned, the plot felt like a combination of other movies. The subject matter required a more sophisticated script than it received. It was really a lost chance to create something similar to 'Law Abiding Citizen.' For an idea with this potential, the scenes were rather commonplace and the conclusion was merely adequate. What made it worthwhile was the entertainment value; even if you recognize elements from other films, you won’t find it dull. The cast was superb, but I still see it as a well-made B movie more than an average A list one. 6/10
