“Sniper: The Last Stand” gets underway promisingly, but then appears to lose sight of its purpose. The movie initially delivers a reasonable amount of enjoyable, low-budget military action, but it subsequently decelerates considerably, morphing into a rather predictable and melodramatic military drama. Overblown narratives and contrived displays are plentiful throughout. The film does improve somewhat later on, although by that point, viewer interest may have already waned; I nearly abandoned it myself. Ultimately, a low-budget military action movie should maintain focus. “Sniper: The Last Stand” (it’s curious how these films are consistently titled "the Last Stand?") would have benefited from emphasizing the action elements and minimizing the soap opera aspects. It's an unremarkable viewing experience, to put it mildly.
