I wouldn't recommend this film unless you’re looking for a way to feel bad about your time. It’s easily one of the dullest, most foreseeable movies I’ve encountered recently. Beyond the jokes that simply don't land, the storyline itself is also weak. There isn't a single moment where things start to click or make logical sense. The filmmakers seemed to be attempting to capitalize on both the current trend of female protagonists and explorations of family dynamics, but they completely missed the mark with both attempts. Essentially, the movie centers around a mother and daughter who travel to Ecuador for vacation. They are then kidnapped by an influential criminal figure with plans to sell them off. Together, they manage to defeat this person and their entire operation—something that apparently eluded the combined efforts of both American and Mexican law enforcement. The daughter is portrayed as reckless throughout, while her mother is rigidly controlled, though these character traits supposedly reverse themselves by the film’s conclusion.
