Sosie Bacon offered a commendable portrayal of Dr. Rose Cotter, and the filmmakers were successful in creating suspense and delivering frightening scenes; however, the direction and writing seemed to restrain themselves from achieving something more substantial. What's notable is that the production cost $17 million and ultimately earned over $217 million globally, which is quite remarkable. It was initially intended for streaming services, but following positive audience reactions during test screenings, it received a theatrical release, and I understand why. The visuals and overall mood are considerably enhanced when experienced in a cinema setting. I recognized the effort Parker Finn made to establish an eerie and disturbing atmosphere, particularly given that this was his first feature film, but I would have preferred if the narrative explored the psychological elements it alluded to with greater depth. Ultimately, it's a satisfactory horror movie that provides enough entertainment and features some truly suspenseful instances.
