I didn’t find 'Sleepless in Seattle' particularly enjoyable. After seeing it, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the movie. The way the story unfolds feels strange; the fact that the central characters in this supposed romantic comedy don’t actually have a proper meeting until near the very end seemed like an odd decision—I can understand how it might work under different circumstances, but it didn't for me. It's made even more peculiar by what felt like unsettling behavior from one of the individuals involved. The two main actors also failed to impress me, both in their acting and in how well they fit the roles. The latter is partly due to the fact that we hardly see them together, so there’s no opportunity for any chemistry to develop. Tom Hanks was the best part of the film, though only marginally; Meg Ryan makes an effort, but her character felt rather ordinary—I think she would have been better cast as Bill Pullman's Walter, even if the movie tries to suggest otherwise. The supporting actors don’t make much of an impression, with Ross Malinger being a minor exception. It gets a negative rating from me; thankfully, both Hanks and Ryan have delivered far stronger performances in other projects.
