It's reasonable to assume that someone with an FBI background would be capable of handling firearms or defending themselves against them. A doctor, however? That seems less likely. Yet Sarah Sawyer manages not only to disarm someone pointing a gun at her but also extinguish a fire engulfing a building without even being present inside! Will Sawyer finds himself in a difficult situation when the tablet he was inexplicably given—granting him complete control over the building’s security system and essentially everything else—is stolen, the building is set ablaze, and his family becomes trapped above the flames with limited escape options. Now considered a suspect, Will decides to re-enter the burning structure to rescue his family. This task proves more complicated than it initially appears, as there's a crucial object to retrieve, and those responsible for starting the fire will do anything to obtain it. Oh, and I almost forgot—**he’s missing a leg!** _A few spoilers follow._ The plot of Skyscraper felt incredibly formulaic; the only surprise was how they squandered five minutes showing Will instructing Sarah to restart her phone as a setup for the finale where she restarts the building's system to stop the fire. There was one moment I appreciated, near the conclusion during the scene in _The Pearl_, but that’s not enough reason to watch an entire movie. Rawson Thurber would probably be better off sticking to comedy, which is his area of expertise. This film is a regrettable use of its $125,000,000 budget and a waste of the $12 ticket price. I suggest you pass on this one.
