I’m completely captivated by the artistry of this film. I initially wasn't planning on seeing it, as vampire narratives aren't usually my thing, but this transcends being simply a “vampire story.” It portrays the beauty within Black culture while also addressing the harsh realities of oppression, particularly during the Jim Crow period, which serves as the movie’s setting. The frightening moments were truly unsettling, the heartbreaking scenes evoked genuine sadness, and every other aspect fulfilled its purpose effectively. I long to experience watching this film for the very first time once more. Each performer delivered a remarkable performance, but Miles Caton, who plays Sammie, was exceptional—it came as quite a surprise to discover that this is his debut in a major role. The movie's significance makes it an ideal springboard for discussions about various subjects. Ryan Coogler is undeniably a director of considerable power; the film is simply breathtaking.
