It’s clear from "Sinners" that large studios are still capable of creating films that are artistic, thought-provoking, and deeply moving. The movie benefits greatly from Ryan Coogler's assured and inventive direction, alongside a truly remarkable score deserving of recognition, a talented group of actors, and an examination of racial injustice, cultural belonging, and faith that is full of meaning. It’s easily among the most significant films released this year. This is a powerful and striking experience with pointed observations about society – one that really needs to be viewed in a theater.
