It’s obvious I have a very different reaction than most people seem to be having with this one. To be honest, I didn’t find it enjoyable. While musicals aren’t really my thing—they’re likely my least favorite type of movie—I can still get some enjoyment out of them; films like *'The Greatest Showman'* and *'The Sound of Music'* are examples. But *'Singin’ in the Rain'* just didn’t resonate with me. There are perhaps one or two songs I’ve heard before that aren’t bad, and Gene Kelly as Don is entertaining enough. The story itself, setting aside the music, has potential—the transition from silent films to talkies is a fascinating period. However, considering it's a musical, they don’t explore that aspect of the plot as much as I would have liked. The songs didn’t really work for me, with the exception of "Singin' in the Rain," and I honestly found them tedious to get through. The rest of the cast, aside from Kelly, felt a bit underwhelming; I thought Debbie Reynolds as Kathy was acceptable, but Donald O'Connor as Cosmo seemed like he was trying too hard. Jean Hagen’s portrayal of Lina also struck me as slightly irritating, although that might have been intentional on her part. I do want to say the film looks great visually. I really hoped I would enjoy it more than I did, but ultimately, I didn't. You can disregard my opinion if you like!
