The initial idea behind this film held considerable potential, an opportunity that could have been wasted—and nearly was—but thankfully, the movie finds its footing in the final act, evolving into something genuinely moving and maintaining momentum until the very end. The actors were well-chosen, the directing was competent, and the special effects served their purpose effectively. It’s a remarkable reimagining of a film that many people likely would have overlooked by now.
