I recall renting this movie, originally titled Siege, years ago in the eighties. It’s really surprising that an official release hasn't happened yet; it’s something that should have occurred already. The film moves quickly, without any slow moments, presenting a constant series of intense confrontations between violent criminals and a group of people who shelter someone escaping from the gang's earlier attack—all within what appears to be the most dilapidated and unpleasant building imaginable. It carries echoes of Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 and offers a playful nod to Escape From New York, as the criminals find themselves in over their heads when those they’ve trapped start fighting back. The performances are consistently good, and there's a surprising twist at the very end. This is definitely worth watching..! A true grindhouse classic..! As an interesting detail, the Japanese version includes seven extra minutes of footage showing daytime scenes that haven't been distributed anywhere else outside of Japan.
